I've always been a reader and an amateur audiophile. These attributes allowed me to indulge my curiosity on many topics. I feel that words and narrated words have been my fuel for life. I would read an author, listen to a narrated book, broadcast, or presentation that fed my curiosity or creative desires. My high school graduation present from my parents was a Canon 35mm camera. The natural course for me of photography was video.
It really goes without saying but as the migration and evolution of the digital universe has expanded the playing field has leveled. The terminology of techne creates perceived barriers of content capture, curation and creation. My mission is to not only find my audience, team, or tribe but to help others by telling my story, along with a behind the scenes exposure to the work.
The one thing you can't avoid in the entire process is writing. Nothing of inspiration develops energy until you express it in words. It's not an end but a genesis. The visual can cloud the meaning but words along with a little understanding of the voice behind the words imprints itself in those receiving it.
I've had an Audible subscription for over 20 years and the impact of a great narration along with a well crafted story stays with you and that's what I desire to create. Content that brings meaning to those that discover it. "Inspiration from Letters and Libations".
"Baptism by Fire" comes to mind as I step out a little deeper into the digital universe. My mentor Deacon Thom put it this way:
"Language Our Destination, have we written it out so we can look at it and say, yes, that's me and yes, that's where I'm going. The beauty of language is that's our story."
He added:
"Faith that Overcomes the Fear to take a Step Forward. The Lord brings to us a divine inspiration that we all need to look at that opens our world to something bigger than us, so we're never alone. He says, I don't find you, and the reason I don't find you is you're in the past regretting something, or you're in the future fearing something. Let's get into the now in your life."
The state of NOW is calling for voices of understanding and work that only WE can do. The starting line is before me and the starting gun has just fired!
Mt 5:13–16
13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trodden under foot by men.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. 15 Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
On the topic of "leveling the playing field", this video captures the spirit of creativity. A song we all may have heard from Michael Jackson re-created using AI as an Irish folk song. As a lover of words and narrated words (and of course music), I've added this to my playlist and as a shining example "the migration and evolution of the digital universe".
Just in case you're not aware, here's Michael Jackson's immensely popular version. :-)
